Ava

Ava in July of 2007.

Ava is a German Shepherd mix that we rescued in 2007. She came to us with a surgical hernia, a surgical complication, Parvo, Coccidia, tapeworms, and a severe hookworm infestation. Caring for her in the beginning was quite challenging. I barely slept at all for over two weeks, while caring for her night and day. But once I pulled her through those first few weeks, she has been the picture of perfect health since.

Ava is funny, very smart, extremely attached to me and pretty much a handful as she is still in that glorious puppy stage. But all of the smarter dogs are a handful when they are young. It is just the way things work. She recently turned a year old and spends most of her time worshiping the ground that Peggy walks on, and tormenting her.
