Clapton

Clapton pictured at 5 years old.  - (2005)

This is our cat Clapton.  He was a rescue that we took in back in 2000.  He was 10 weeks old at the time and his litter had been abandoned at a veterinary clinic.  We thought he would make a good companion for Millie, but it didn't really turn out that way.  They tolerate each other but Clapton's personality is just a bit pushy for the delicate Ms. Millie.

Clapton & Millie meet for the first time.

Clapton is now 7 years old and he is HUGE.  When you pick him up, he feels about three times heavier than you would expect.  He's not fat, just a very large cat.  Most people can't tell him and Millie apart.  In fact I am typically the only one that can tell them 100% for sure all of the time, (which seems weird to me because I think the differences are obvious- but anyway...).  Clapton is far larger, and most people can only tell them apart if they are together.  People ask us all the time if they are from the same litter, but Millie was 4 years old when we took Clapton in.

Clapton was different from day one.  He is pretty much fearless.  And not very "cat like".  For the longest time he acted far more like a dog than a cat.  Below is a picture of him eating home prepared raw puppy food, with a litter of pups.  (That's LB & Peggy in the photos.)

This was not a fluke, this was normal behavior for Clapton.

Clapton continued on, behaving like a dog for years.  My Mom even gave him & Baby & Bonnie the nickname, "The Three Musketeers" because they always seemed to be packing around together.  Baby and Clapton wrestled like no one could believe.  And at times Clapton would even climb in the dog house with Baby or Bonnie, and settle down for a long nap.

Eventually Clapton started to pal around my parent's older cat Bully, and it was as if Bully taught him how to behave like a cat.  Bully passed away last year at 17 years old, and that was pretty hard on all of us, Clapton especially.  But he's perked back up, and as a hobby he's taken up tormenting Spike.
